A few days ago, I heard that a new domain name ".ไทย" (dot-Thai) is available. Traditionally, the domain name standard supports only some limited range of ASCII alphanumeric. Later, we can named it in any languages specified by Unicode with the benefit of punycode encryption,
that is, we must convert our words into the punycode and then register that output name. Multilanguage top-level domain in fact has been used for some time such as .рф (dot-RF by Russia), ایران. (dot-Iran) and .中国 (dot-Zhōngguó by China); so it is not surprising that there should be .ไทย.
We can also set up our words in Thai language ending with .ไทย. In the launch of the domain name, Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC) said that the owners of ".th" prior to November 16th, 2010 are able to register new Thai names for free. Otherwise, they have to wait until March 11th, 2011. The new name will be approved only if it is not inconsistent with the criteria. You would visit this THNIC page to read their official announcement (both th/en versions). What about this web site? I can have another name either but I somewhat do not need it because we talk in English, don't we? The second issue is that I do not want to pay the renewal fee in the next year. |
