During this month, I heard news about the shortage of consumable palm oil in Thailand. Previously, the government announced a fixed price of palm oil bottle to solve overpricing issue, but it was not helpful because it made people demand more till the oil out of stock. The shortage had grew larger till people must step in line to buy and wrest for it. And then DSI agents went to check manufacturers whether they were hoarding the oil, but they failed. The original cause was that there were few amounts of palm fruits as the result of weather problems. The government had the solution to import palm fruits from Malaysia; their price was cheaper than Thailand's. The government also borrowed palm oil that had been for biodiesel from the Ministry of Energy. These measures would make the palm oil remain for two month. After that, the oil stock will return to normal. A former prime minister also recommended avoiding fried foods, turning to boiled or steamed foods instead; it seemed to be a joke, but you could do it if you want. I already do not suffer from this situation because I do not cook very often. |
