We should already know that Japan experienced earthquake recently. And now we know that the earthquake with tsunami caused damage to their nuclear power plant, especially their several nuclear reactors. The plant's control system failed, while the nuclear cores are increasingly heating (caused by nuclear reaction). If the nuclear cores melt, it will cause serious radioactive decay. They have to mobilise to inject seawater to reduce the heat, although it will cause permanent damage; the power plant will be unuseable anymore. Anyway, if they cannot resist, they will enclose the reactors in cement confinement like Chernobyl's.

Their citizens, including the international labours, are also anxious about the leak of radionuclides that they can cause cancer. Japanese have knowledge that the radionuclides are mainly unstable iodine and caesium atoms. By the fact that iodine is considered rare by the human body, the body is in hurry to collect iodine to thyroid, while the body is not interested in caesium. In the same way, if the body has not enough iodine and it comes across with some receiving unstable iodine, the body will immediately absorb those iodine and then thyroid cancer will certainly arise. They had to take some concentrated iodine pills to fill up their thyroids.

There was a rumour via BlackBerry's chat that smearing Betadine, a medical solution for cleaning minor wounds, around neck would prevent the absorbance of the unstable iodine. Some people believed this rumour without reason, while others did not believe with their sense. The rumour was actually misinformed. Although we exactly knew that Betadine contained iodine compound and some experts said that iodine could be absorbed through skin, but its quantity would be too few to protect from the unwanted isotope. (Someone told to devour Betadine instead... DON'T DO IT!) Doctors recommended that ones should not take the pills when they did not need because it might cause allergic.
